Tru Heroes
Welcome to the Tru Heroes page. Everyday, Americans tune into the evening news and mostly hear and see the negative and devastating results of war. You rarely hear anything positive or uplifting, and therefore most of us have never heard many of the uplifting and spectacularly heroic stories of our nation's bravest service members. Since the "news" and other media sources have failed to share their stories, TruSoldier has provided many of them right here on the Tru Heroes page. Since there are literally thousands of stories worthy to be told, we are going to start with the eight Medal of Honor recipients since September 11, 2001. These eight heroes will not be where we stop. I would like visitors to this site to feel free to nominate a hero for our online "Wall of Heroes!" If you have a story of military courage to share with the world, please contact us with the hero's name, rank, branch of service, unit, awards, story or citation, alone with any other pertinent information or pictures you may have available. If you would like to make a donation to support a veteran-oriented non-profit, please visit our "donate" link. Any donation to TruSoldier will entirely go to help veterans or the families of veterans.
There are several military decorations that denote bravery in combat. Some of these awards are: The Distinguished Service Cross, the Navy Cross, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, etc. The Medal of Honor however, is the United States' highest military decoration. It has been bestowed on 3,448 men and one woman (a Civil War surgeon) since President Abraham Lincoln signed it into law on Dec. 21, 1861. It is reserved for those who are distinguished "conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States."
